nucleases

Endonucleases

These nucleases cleave the phosphodiester bonds within the nucleic acid molecule, resulting in the production of smaller nucleic acid fragments. Endonucleases are involved in processes such as DNA replication, recombination, and repair. Examples of endonucleases include restriction endonucleases, which are used in molecular biology to cleave DNA at specific recognition sites, and ribonucleases, which break down RNA molecules.
